As Hope Academy continued to grow, so did the complexity of their space needs. With a landlocked footprint, outdated facilities, and increasing demand for specialized programming, the school faced a dual challenge: adapt their current space while planning boldly for the future. That vision took shape across a full city block—with strategic planning, inventive design, and a strong partnership with Station 19 Architects.

The first major opportunity came with the purchase of an adjacent medical clinic and office building, allowing Hope Academy to occupy an entire city block. Station 19 transformed this facility into a vibrant high school with a collegiate feel. Leadership and administrative offices were relocated to the new building, and a new main entrance was established adjacent to a newly acquired parking structure—improving access and flow.

To support the school’s dynamic curriculum, Station 19 created classroom spaces designed for cutting-edge offerings like Robotics, Digital Media, Medical Training, and Ceramics, alongside traditional academic areas. A full kitchen and high school cafeteria were centrally located to capitalize on natural light and glass lines. A new commons area gave high school students a much-needed place to gather—something their former facility lacked. Dedicated space was also created for Family Ministry, Admissions, and Finance & Development—departments that had previously shared cramped quarters.

Yet growth didn’t stop there. The school also needed a competition-level gymnasium. But without room to build outward, Station 19 proposed a bold solution: build upward. The gym was constructed atop the second-floor roof of the existing facility. To maintain a quality learning environment below, an advanced sound-isolating floor system was installed to prevent noise transfer into classrooms.

Elsewhere, an expanded cafeteria was added to a separate rooftop and structurally designed to support an additional story—future-ready from day one.

Through collaborative master planning and visionary design, Station 19 helped Hope Academy reimagine their urban footprint—creating innovative, functional, and inspiring spaces for today’s students while laying the groundwork for continued growth and expansion.
