Heartland Evangelical Free Church found itself grappling with a series of challenges within its walls. The kids' area lacked security and vitality, while classrooms felt out of sync with the needs of users. Adult education spaces, along with Fellowship, Library, Fireside, and admin areas, were all in need of a refresh to better serve the congregation. Additionally, the first impression, Lobby, and Worship spaces needed updating to be fresh and welcoming—while honoring key existing elements like the wood ceiling and stained glass.
Station 19 Architects undertook a mission to infuse new vitality into Heartland. Their solution was both practical and transformative. The kids' area underwent a complete remodel, now boasting a secure and inviting check-in area, along with visually engaging classroom spaces designed to inspire young hearts and minds. In the worship space, a new stone focal wall with a prominent cross was introduced, complemented by relocated stained glass and updated finishes. A new café was also added to help foster a more welcoming and hospitable atmosphere. Other areas received a facelift through new finishes, revitalizing the entire space.
Through their partnership with Station 19 Architects, Heartland Evangelical Free Church now enjoys a vibrant and secure kids' area, revitalized education and meeting spaces, and a refreshed Worship and Lobby experience. The result is a consistent and welcoming first impression, a worship-centered environment, and a cohesive identity that flows seamlessly throughout the church—supporting both community and spiritual growth.
