Multiple construction phases over decades left ECC’s facility with patch-worked design and infrastructure. Station 19’s design response was to communicate a vision for hospitality by introducing space and light via a gracious corridor through the heart of the education and administration building as well as a state-of-the-art 2300-seat auditorium and a top-to-bottom renovation of the kids’ area. With a design that is both interactive and relevant, ECC’s identity now combines both the urban culture of Minneapolis, and the suburban influences of its surrounding communities.
By utilizing elements of both technology and nature, the design reflects a story of growth and development in children’s education and ECC’s heart to give those who are distant from God a place to grow. Specialty spaces were created to support care of children with special needs as well as a growing music and creative arts education program. Station 19 and Emmanuel Christian Center brought consistency and innovation to a once confined facility and crafted a space that is ready to accommodate and adapt to a growing community.
